The Focus Group on Positioning and Immobilisation (P&I) aims to harmonise radiotherapy practices with the current state of research to establish best practice guidelines and enhance patient safety. By identifying gaps in scientific knowledge, education, research, and quality of care, the Focus Group addresses challenges in patient setup and stability, including motion management and position verification.

We recently defined three working groups:

  • Patient setup and stability
  • Motion management
  • Position verification

The purpose of these working groups is to find out the challenges and aims. Patient information/education runs like a common thread through all working groups. The defined challenges and aims will be presented on this website soon.

The P&I Focus Group proposes and assists in the development of guidelines, conducts educational events, distributes and analyses surveys, and advises on the scientific content of the annual ESTRO congress.  In addition to the ESTRO Councils and Committees all radiation oncology experts can contact the Positioning & Immobilisation Focus Group with their questions or (innovative) ideas. The P&I Focus Group is looking for stakeholders in the field of radiotherapy who want to join a working group and contribute their knowledge with the P&I Focus Group.

Education: Evidence-based guidelines. Multi-professional educational events. Patient education.
