The ESTRO CNS Focus Group serves as a think tank with the specific goal of enhancing and complementing the current activities of the ESTRO Councils and Committees in the field of neuro-oncology. The Focus Group will proactively function as a hub, proposing and implementing various actions in the field. These actions include assisting in the development of technical and clinical guidelines, planning and executing educational events, distributing and analysing surveys, and supporting the dissemination of scientific content. Additionally, ESTRO Councils and Committees can seek assistance and constructive input from the CNS Focus Group.

The CNS Focus Group aims to harmonise current and future scientific and educational projects not only within ESTRO but also by actively engaging with other professional societies, such as the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO) or the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).

The CNS Focus Group welcomes the interest and suggestions of all ESTRO members, with the ultimate goal of advancing patient care through the rigorous application of evidence-based medicine and the continuous education of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists.

The Focus Group's initiatives and projects aim to comprehensively incorporate and report on all areas of neuro-oncology and radiation oncology. These are not limited to but include preclinical and clinical research, critical and systematic reviews, imaging modalities, planning and target delineation, irradiation techniques and reirradiation, the use of artificial intelligence, quality of life, cancer survivorship, assessment and use of biomarkers, education of involved professions, dissemination of relevant research and guidelines, and the assessment of current and future challenges in the field.
