Automatic treatment planning has significant potential to improve the quality of radiotherapy treatment plans and to make treatment planning more time efficient. Especially in adaptive radiotherapy, automated treatment planning will likely serve a crucial role. Automatic treatment planning has already paved its way to clinical practice through many treatment planning systems. However, the process of introducing automatic treatment planning in clinical practice is in general time consuming and validation is needed to avoid suboptimal configurations. This symposium will present different clinical applications of automatic treatment planning including both EBRT and BT. Furthermore, requirements for continuous maintenance of high quality solutions will be discussed.
