The Brachy-HERO (Health Economics in Radiation Oncology) working group was set up in 2017 to gather information on brachytherapy practice within Europe and to explore the causes of its declining use.
The group is currently conducting a detailed survey on cervix cancer brachytherapy which will be presented at the 7th. GEC-ESTRO workshop in Budapest.
Collaborations have also been established with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to extend the project to brachytherapy practice worldwide.
