Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) local control and survival is dependent on the extent of surgical removal, but recurrence rates are still significant in high-grade STS even with the implementation of (neo)adjuvant treatments. The current symposium focuses on advances in personalized radiotherapy for STS, such as preoperative hypofractionationated radiotherapy and spatially fractionated GRID radiotherapy (SFGRT), due to particular clinical features for this disease. It will also address radiotherapy enhancers for synergistic therapies: chemotherapy and target therapy drugs, hyperthermia and radioenhancer nanoparticles. Furthermore, the incidence of radiation-associated soft tissue sarcomas will be discussed, as well as treatment strategies.

Image-guided radiotherapy has improved precision of irradiation by ensuring accurate positioning of the target volume at the start of each radiotherapy treatment fraction. The next step is to deal with the target motion that occurs during a treatment fraction. In this symposium two speakers will describe techniques based on X-ray imaging technology and non-radiographic imaging modalities that provide real-time feadback about the patient. The third presentation will discuss the impact that these methods have on treatment margins and expand the existing theoretical framework for margins to on-line adaptive radiotherapy.

This symposium on Online Adaptive Radiotherapy, ART will provide an overview of workflow on the MR-Linac and on the Ethos. The rationale and the first results on patients eligible for ART plans will be covered. The session also cover an overview of the resources required to run an ART program including the roles for the RTT and the responsibilities of the team undertaking the adaptation. What do RTTs need to know to undertake Adaptive RT vs What do RTTs already know to make ART safe and successful?

This session explores the positive impact of good leadership and how to achieve it. How can good leadership help improve the work environment, and the employee’s ability to perform and succeed? How do you make sure, that employees have the needed resources to be successful? What kind of role plays cognitive bias in leadership, and how can leaders structure meetings to help get the best solutions? This will be discussed, along with the yESTRO mentoring program from a mentor and mentee perspective. Finally, objective and personal perspectives will be shared on how leadership in ESTRO looks like.
