The RODEZ Hospital Center in France (Aveyron – Department 12) is seeking a full-time radiation oncologist to join the medical team (currently 2 senior radiation oncologists) following a departure.
As a key healthcare institution in the region, the Rodez Hospital Center offers a comprehensive cancer care service (surgery – radiotherapy – medical oncology – palliative care – chronic pain management) with a modern and efficient technical platform:
- 2 “matched” ELEKTA linear accelerators (with CBCT, EXACTRAC on one accelerator, and VISION RT on the other)
- VMAT techniques for all types of cancer, DIBH left breast cancer, and intracranial stereotactic radiotherapy
- Mosaiq software
- TPS RayStation v2024a
- 1 dedicated simulation CT scanner with 4D option (TOSHIBA, installed December 2016)
- PET-CT and MRI slots in treatment position
We treat approximately 650 to 700 new patients per year.
Team Composition:
- 3.8 medical physicists
- 1.6 dosimetrists
- 8.6 radiation therapy technologists
- 1 nurse
- 1.9 consultation assistants
- 3 secretaries
- 1 radiation oncology resident
Clinical research is coordinated by a Clinical Research Associate.
Contract:
Recruitment is planned under the “praticien hospitalier” (hospital practitioner) status, with the possibility of private practice activity.
No on-call duties, no night shifts.
You’ll join a motivated, friendly, and dynamic team with several exciting projects such as the development of extracranial stereotactic radiotherapy.
Responsibilities of the Radiation Oncologist:
- Conduct initial "announcement" consultations (first appointment to indicate and explain radiotherapy)
- Perform contouring and validate dosimetry
- Verify patient positioning before each radiotherapy session (portal imaging, CBCT, ExacTrac or surface imaging)
- Weekly follow-up consultations to monitor treatment tolerance
- Ensure medical presence during treatment hours (8 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
- Post-radiotherapy follow-up consultations, then annual follow-ups (shared with other physicians)
- Interdepartmental consultations
- Participation in multidisciplinary tumor boards (general, urology, dermatology)
- Involvement in quality processes (protocols, morbidity/mortality reviews, clinical audits, etc.), team meetings
- Training of medical residents
