Abstract Text

In the last decade, there have been rapid changes and progressive developments in the technology used for the planning and delivery of radiotherapy, especially with the utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) in cancer diagnosis/treatments/outcomes. There is no doubt that we can take advantages with the ongoing advances and integrate AI automation for the repetitive/low cognitive demand clinical tasks.

With the ever-increasing complexity of the radiotherapy patient pathway, we, as healthcare professionals within radiation oncology, are required to respond to these ongoing advances efficiently in a technology-driven AI environment with a patient-centered focus; and to refine the radiotherapy workflows with an increased emphasis on high-quality communications/interactions between patients and clinicians/radiation therapists.

Against this background, this presentation will include the following:ยท      

- Complexity of radiotherapy pathways and the role of human interactions
- Current AI automations being utilised in the radiotherapy pathway
- Pros and Cons of replacing human with the AI automation
- A glimpse into the future by 2030 - which aspects (or will there be any!) will be better without involving human
