This symposium will cover image-guidance in particle therapy, with a main focus on proton therapy. First, an overview of x-ray based in-room imaging and relevant clinical examples will be presented, along with an outlook on the future. Second, in vivo imaging for treatment verification will be presented, including an overview of secondary particles and imaging technologies like prompt gamma and PET, but also recent technological developments, status of clinical studies, and potential use in adaptive radiotherapy. Third, recent developments within proton CT will be presented, along with recent research on evaluation in non-homogeneous phantoms and calibrations studies comparing proton CT with conventional CT. The symposium will end with the roadmap for clinical introduction of MR-integrated proton therapy, including updates from ongoing studies around the world, and an outlook on the expected clinical benefit of MR-integrated proton therapy.
