Challenges in Reirradiation: From Art to Science

Reirradiation is becoming a routine component of care for a wide range of patients after an initial radiotherapy course. Nevertheless, in most radiotherapy centres, reirradiation remains a predominantly intuitive approach rather than a precisely scientific one. In this webinar series, leading experts will discuss the significant complexities associated with reirradiation; patient selection, clinical workflows, image registration & dose accumulation, organ at risk dose constraints, incorporating tissue recovery factors and optimizing reirradiation plans.

To gain a deeper understanding of the reirradiation treatments, expand your network, and ensure interactive live debates, this webinar series is a prelude to the upcoming pre-meeting course dedicated to reirradiation, happening in Glasgow, at ESTRO24. Further information and the registration link for the Reirradiation pre-meeting will soon be made available here

We look forward to seeing you online.

By exploring every aspect of the clinical reirradiation process, we aim to raise awareness in the ESTRO community of the challenges we currently face in day-to-day practice and research, and engage all interested parties to prioritise and gather efforts to progress the field of reirradiation and ultimately move from an art to a science.

  • Clinical workflow considerations
  • Radiobiology fundamental to accumulating dose
  • Image registration & dose accumulation
  • Normal tissue dose constraints & recovery factors
  • The future of reirradiation

We welcome all disciplines interested in or involved with re-irradiation patients in clinical practice, as well as reirradiation researchers, such as radiobiologists, computer scientists and data scientists, working toward improving reirradiation patient care.

Webinars dates:

  • Thursday 26 October 2023 (15:00-16:00 CEST) - Reirradiation Challenges & Opportunities
  • Monday 6 November 2023 (15:00-16:00 CET) - Challenges in the Clinical Reirradiation Workflow
  • Monday 4 December 2023 (15:00-16:00 CET) - Practical Radiobiology for Clinical Reirradiations Challenges
  • Tuesday 9 January 2024 (15:00-16:00 CET) - Challenges in Accumulating Doses
  • Monday 5 February 2024 (15:00-16:30 CET) - Dose Constraints for Reirradiation: What Do We Know?
  • Tuesday 5 March 2024 (15:00-16:00 CET) -  Proton Reirradiation: Current Status & Challenges
  • Thursday 11  April 2024 (15:00-16:00 CEST) - Other Reirradiation Techniques Available
  • Thursday 23  May 2024 (15:00-16:00 CEST) - Going Forward: How we do learn? How do we improve?

The webinars are going to discuss the day-to-day implementation of Reirradiation. A broader view on Reirradiation – the full journey from its basis and principles to the clinic’s implementation – is taking place during the premeeting course dedicated to Reirradiation, happening in Glasgow, at ESTRO24. The pre meeting course is a one-day live event, providing you a full understating of the technique as well as live discussions and networking with experts and peers.

Further information and the registration link for the Reirradiation pre-meeting will soon be made available here
