Cultural sensitivity and awareness in RTT practice
Cultural sensitivity awareness and appreciation of the values and beliefs of a cultural, ethnic, racial, or other group that is not one’s own, accompanied by the willingness to adapt one’s behaviour accordingly. (American Psychological Association). It’s time to think about this in relation to our treatments, patients, and health care workers. Do we need to adjust our protocols, do they fit each skin tone? How do we raise more cultural sensitivity and create a safe environment for our patients and health care workers?
