Abstract Text
Establishing an adequate uncertainty budget is equally essential in research and clinical routine and is not only necessary in experimental work but also in simulations (e.g. Monte Carlo simulations). There are several examples on how to stablish an uncertainty budget available, for examples for reference dosimetry, but these concepts are rarely translated to other topics. Moreover, detailed uncertainty budgets are often lacking in publications which limits the usefulness of the published data for further work as it is unclear which sources of uncertainty, if any, were considered. The aim of this lecture is therefore to refresh basic and advanced concepts of uncertainty estimation and motivate the participants to apply these concepts to their specific field of interest.
