We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the European Union Radiation, Education, Staffing and Training (EU-REST) project and the publication of its final report.

The project was a 24-month European Commission tender, launched in September 2022 and completed on 31 August 2024. This initiative was a collaborative effort between the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics (EFOMP), the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) and ESTRO.

The project was focused on the analysis of workforce availability, education, and training requirements to enhance the quality and safety of medical applications that involve the use of ionising radiation across the EU. It serves as a key contribution to the implementation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and aligns with the Strategic Agenda for Medical Ionising Radiation Applications (SAMIRA) action plan.

We are delighted to share that the final report, which is titled "Analysis on Workforce Availability, Education, and Training Needs for the Quality and Safety of Medical Applications Involving Ionising Radiation in the EU – Status and Recommendations", is now available on the European Commission website.
