17-19 June, 2024

Heidelberg, Germany

Endorsed by ESTRO

The FLASH Workshop 2024 in Heidelberg at the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ) brings together medical physicists, biologists, clinicians and scientists to discuss the impact of oxygen in ultra-high-dose-rate (FLASH) radiotherapy. Oxygen plays a vital role in radiation therapy; it is the most well-known radiation sensitiser. Increased amounts of tissue oxygen have been shown to reduce the protective nature of FLASH in healthy tissue. The FLASH workshop will enable an open discussion of the ideas regarding how oxygen impacts FLASH radiotherapy. Talks by our invited speakers will be supplemented by those from attendees. Therefore, we are really looking forward to receiving your abstract if you want to participate actively in the workshop.

The workshop is organised by DKFZ under the auspices of the Heidelberg Institute for Radiation Oncology and is designed for medical physicists, biologists, clinicians, bioengineers and students in the respective fields.

Confirmed speakers are Marie-Catherine Vozenin (Geneva, Switzerland), Pierre Montay-Gruel (Antwerp, Belgium), Elke Beyreuther (Dresden, Germany), Kristoffer Petersson (Oxford, UK), Cristian Fernandez Palomo (Bern, Switzerland), Charles Limoli (Irvine, USA), P. Jack Hoopes (Hanover, USA), and Billy W. Loo Jr. (Stanford, USA).
