Overview: Within this session the results of reirradiation, enhanced by hyperthermia and/or preceded by surgery, after locoregional recurrence of breast cancer as well as in case of radiation associated sarcoma will be highlighted. Additionally, the standard treatment of ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence, salvage mastectomy, will be compared with second breast-conserving surgery followed by multicatheter interstitial brachytherapy as reirradiation modality. The third speaker will focus on retreatment tolerance of thoracic normal tissues and will address the validity of the LQ model in hypofractionation and SBRT. Finally, treatment challenges as image registration, avoidance of the previous irradiated area and the complexity of dose summation will be discussed.
