In the last decade, the use of MRI for gynaecological cancer treatment within the radiotherapy field has increased tremendously due to the superior anatomical visualization of pelvic structures with this imaging technique. To date, MRI has been used for contouring, planning and position verification in external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) as well as in brachytherapy (BT). In this symposium different aspects of MRI will be discussed; from basic anatomy, to the additional value of functional imaging, and the use of the hybrid MR-linac technique and MRI based image-guided adaptive brachytherapy (IGABT) in gynaecological patients.
