ESTRO Best Paper Awards

ESTRO sponsors Best Paper awards of €1,000 each for the best paper submitted to the Brachytherapy, Clinical, Interdisciplinary, Physics, Radiobiology and RTT tracks.

Criteria for selection

  • Only abstracts accepted for proffered paper presentation at ESTRO 2025 will be considered for the award.
  • Presentations are evaluated on (in decreasing order of importance): the scientific value of the data; the clarity of the presentation; and the visual quality of the presentation layout.

How to apply

No application is needed. You are automatically considered if your abstract is accepted. Prizes will be handed out at the Highlights of Proffered Papers session during the ESTRO Congress. 

 

ctRO, phiRO, tipsRO Young Researcher Awards  

The ctRO, phiRO, tipsRO Young Researcher Awards are presented under the auspices of ESTRO’s journals, Clinical & Translational Radiation Oncology (ctRO), Physics & Imaging in Radiation Oncology (phiRO), and Technical Innovations & Patient Support in Radiation Oncology (tipsRO) and are sponsored by Elsevier.

The winners are entitled to a grant of €1,000 and are invited to submit a paper to the awarding journal which will be published at no cost to the author if accepted following the peer-review process.

Criteria for selection

  • Only abstracts accepted for presentation at ESTRO 2025, by authors under 40 years of age, will be considered for the award.
  • Presentations are evaluated on (in decreasing order of importance): the scientific value of the data; the clarity of the presentation; and the visual quality of the presentation layout.

How to apply

No application is needed. You are automatically considered if your abstract is accepted. Prizes will be handed out during the Young Networking Event during the ESTRO Congress. 

 

ESTRO-Elekta Brachytherapy Award

A prize of €2,000 will be given to the most innovative paper submitted for presentation at the congress. The winning abstract will be selected by the Scientific Programme Committee.

Criteria for selection

  • Abstracts accepted for oral presentation for the congress will be considered for the award.
  • Since the selection of the winner will be based only on the data provided in the abstract (and not on the presentation) it is advisable that you draft your abstract with extreme care, providing sufficient data for the evaluation by the jury.

How to apply

By submitting a brachytherapy abstract for ESTRO 2025, you are automatically considered for the “ESTRO-Elekta Brachytherapy Award”.

 

GEC-ESTRO Best Junior Presentation - Sponsored by Elekta Brachytherapy

A prize of €1,500 will be given to the best junior presentation for brachytherapy. The winning abstract will be selected by the Scientific Programme Committee.

Criteria for selection

  • Submit an abstract to the brachytherapy track for ESTRO 2025.
  • Applicants should be ‘in training’ members of ESTRO for 2025 and under 40 years of age.
  • Since the selection of the winner will be based only on the data provided in the abstract (and not on the presentation) it is advisable that you draft your abstract with extreme care, providing sufficient data for the evaluation by the jury.

How to apply

By submitting a brachytherapy abstract for ESTRO 2025 and being an in-training member of ESTRO under the age of 40, you are automatically considered for the “GEC-ESTRO Best Junior Presentation”.
