Biography

Julie McCrossin is an eleven-year survivor of stage four oropharyngeal cancer. She was treated in 2013 in Sydney Australia with 33 sessions of radiotherapy and weekly chemotherapy. Julie is now an Ambassador for the cancer charities Targeting Cancer and TROG Cancer Research and a member of Cancer Voices SA. Julie is a former radio broadcaster and TV presenter with qualifications in the arts, education and law. She now works as a freelance journalist and MC. Julie makes educational videos about cancer and hosts the podcast series, The Thing About Cancer and The Thing About Advanced Cancer for Cancer Council NSW https://www.cancercouncil.com.au/advanced-cancer-podcasts/ . In 2019, Julie was awarded an AM ( Member of the Order of Australia) for significant service to the community, particularly through LGBTIQ advocacy roles and to the broadcast media. www.juliemccrossin.com
