Biography

Michael Krisch is a synchrotron X-ray scientist with proven leadership in synchrotron X-ray spectroscopy and instrumentation. He has more than 30 years of experience in X-ray science, working at DESY, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). He served as Group leader in ESRF’s Experiments Division, before becoming in 2015 Head of the Instrumentation Services and Development Division, in charge of ESRF’s instrumentation programme encompassing radiation detectors, mechanics, electronics, x-ray optics, and software and control systems. Since 2019 he is Scientist in charge of the biomedical beamline ID17 and the Biomedical Facility at the ESRF. He is directly responsible for all scientific and technical development of the ID17 beamline with a focus on the Microbeam Radiation Therapy (MRT) programme.
