Biography

Dr. Miriam Joy C. Calaguas is a graduate of the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Medicine, currently an Associate Professor. She finished internship and residency in Radiology and Radiotherapy at the UP Philippine General Hospital. She did fellowship in Radiotherapy at the University of Tsukuba Hospital, Japan. She had training and observerships in Radiation Oncology in various centers abroad. She is fellow,Philippine College of Radiology (PCR) and fellow, Philippine Radiation Oncology Society (PROS). She is fellow, Philippine Society of Oncology and President (2001-2002). She is National Project Coordinator (NPC) in Radiotherapy, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and National Project Leader (NPL) in Radiation Oncology, Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia (FNCA). She is founding member, Southeast Asia Radiation Oncology Group (SEAROG), and President (2009-10). She was member, ASTRO International Educational Subcommittee (IES) and member, International Advisory Board of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics (IJROB). She is Vice President-elect and head of the Education and Training committee of the Federation of Asian Organizations in Radiation Oncology (FARO). She authored, “South East Asia, Differing Socioeconomic Factors, Differing Access to Radiotherapy: The Philippines, a Microcosm,” published in Semin Radia Oncol 27:176-183, 2017.
