Joint DREAM (Dose Response, Experiment, Analysis, Modelling): a physics & radiobiology workshop

Chairs : Heidi Lyng (Norway), Markus Alber (Germany), Mark Jackson (UK), Laure Marignol (Ireland) and Ludwig Dubois (The Netherlands)

Motivation

It is a cliché that radiobiology is where biology and physics meet. It is also a place where cultures clash. This workshop aims to foster communication, awareness and appreciation between the disciplines in the light of the greatest current (and old) challenges and the latest advancements in methodologies and experimental approaches. A broad range of radiobiology could be covered, from the cellular level to clinical data; from dose modification to quantitative clinical endpoints; from microdosimetry to machine learning. The workshop will be in the spirit of bringing problems and solutions together; of seeing the needs of experimentalists, the complexity of the question and the capabilities of the models in one broad picture.

Contributions will be arranged in three topics: expose modellers to the thinking of biologists, expose biologists to the capabilities of new models and data analysis methodologies, and current explorations of dose modifying factors, ranging from radiosensitizers over high-LET radiation to FLASH.
